Dolci, sweets Italian Style
Dolci di nonna Eva, the capo of my mother’s family. Eva’s kitchen was small, crowded with ingredients and family members waiting to eat.
I learned to cook by watching nonna Eva in the kitchen: juggling dishes, hot pans, ingredients, taking requests. My first assignment: frost the Christmas cookies, white icing and sprinkles.
To save nonna’s technique and recipes, I took notes starting my first book of recipes in my teens. Together we converted a handful of flour, a pinch of baking powder, and other ingredients into exact measurements.
This is Dolci, sweets for mia bella nonna Eva, inspired by all friends and family in the kitchen. Enjoy the baking!
