Entertaining is a joy and a lot of work. Many steps are executed well in advance such as, designing a theme, an invitation, the menu and choosing the right mix of friends and family.

Entertaining requires many steps that depend on precise timing such as, procuring food and beverage, setting the rooms with creature comforts, preparing the food and beverage and serving all without a hitch.

If it goes well, with all seated at the table and something unexpected happens, when spirits rise to play and conversations move above the whine of day-to-day, entertaining for friends and family makes me happy.
