My favorite brown rice, short-grain from California. Packed with texture and flavor, this small but mighty grain is a healthy addition to any meal.
Ingredients
1 cup of brown rice
1 3/4 cup water
1 teaspoon salt
Place 1 cup of brown rice in a medium-sized sauce pan. Fill with water. Wash the rice
using your hand to rotate the water in a clockwise turn. Empty most of the water and repeat
the washing process two more times. The water will become clear.
Add salt and 1 3/4 cup water. Stir. Place on a stove set to medium-high. Bring rice to a boil, reduce the heat to medium-low and cover. Cook for 15 minutes. Stir and cover again. Cook for another
10 minutes or until the rice absorbs the water. Stir. The rice should slightly stick to the bottom of the pan. Remove from the heat.
Serve with a soy sauce and sesame salt.
Tip
Cover the lid of the sauce pan with a clean kitchen towel and place back on the pan upside down. This will absorb any liquid that could drip to the stove.
